Lewes Weekend (Lewes, Delaware)

Friday, April 27 - Sunday, April 29, 2018

Be sure to get an early jump on spring 2018 by joining Potomac Pedalers for a weekend at the beach.  Lewes is a small, picturesque, and historic town near Rehoboth Beach. This weekend is noted for its sociability and ease in meeting new people, so come alone or with a friend or spouse. This year we will limit attendance to 85 people, so sign up early – it has sold out the last two years.

We will have rides ranging in length from 20 to 65+ miles, all flat (although we reluctantly admit sometimes there are headwinds at the beach). Many rides visit nearby wildlife refuges, a winery, and beaches.

Your hosts for the weekend will again be Lorraine McCall and Cindy Marisch.

Shenandoah Weekend (Mt. Jackson, Virginia)

Friday, July 13 - Sunday, July 15, 2018  (cancelled for 2018)

Dreaming of summer and a cool mountain breeze? Then mark your calendars for the Potomac Pedalers Shenandoah Valley Weekend. Based in Mt. Jackson, Virginia, the event features plenty of hills for those inclined to climb, but also features rolling terrain for the rest of us. There are lots of different cue sheets to choose from.

We are staying at the Super 8 motel in Mt. Jackson, which is only a few hours from Washington, DC. Bring your bathing suit and enjoy the outdoor pool.

We're hoping to give this weekend a facelift and return in 2019!

Back Roads Century (Shepherdstown, WV)
Sunday, September 16, 2018

2018 marks the fourth year that the Back Roads Century – the mid-Atlantic’s premier cycling event – returns to beautiful Shepherdstown, West Virginia. Each fall the Potomac Pedalers invites cyclists of all ages and abilities to join us for a great weekend of riding, fun, and entertainment throughout the lower Shenandoah Valley.  Every year about 2,000 riders attend the Back Roads Century, and our success comes from the work of hundreds of volunteers, our hosts, Shepherdstown, WV and Shepherd University. Each year, Back Roads Century proceeds benefit many local Shepherdstown non-profits like Boonsboro Future Farmers of America, Clarke-Frederick County Dairy Club, South Spirit Choir, Shenandoah Fire Department, Potomac Valley Audubon Society, CASA of the Eastern Panhandle, Antietam Audio Society, and Shepherd University Student Affairs.

The Back Roads Century features rides of multiple distances, from 23 to 100 miles, with gorgeous scenery and rolling countryside. Every distance is fully supported with route markings, mechanical and first-aid support, and rest stops serving delicious food and drinks including our famous tomato sandwiches.

Make it a weekend! Come out on Saturday, September 15th!

More than just a bike ride, the Back Roads Century is a weekend event, featuring two additional Saturday rides to view the historical sites, specially-tailored entertainment in and around Shepherdstown, our Saturday night buffet with live music, and our Sunday after-ride party.

Registration is now open.  We have a gorgeous Jersey available for purchase.

Spring Thaw at Cambridge, MD
Thursday, May 4 - Sunday, May 7, 2017

Once again, Potomac Pedalers will host and partner with Eastern Tandem Rally to show off the wonderful Eastern Shore cycling. Spring Thaw is a regional cycling event and attacts many people from the East Coast and Mid-West. Four days of riding: no hills, sparse traffic, wide shoulders. Perfect for getting back into cycling after a long winter.

Routes will lead to the water with spectacular scenery among world-class environmental ecosystems. The Saturday ride will include the Six Pillar Century (entry price will be included in the weekend price), which visits the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. (The Six Pillar Century also has shorter rides than 100 miles for those not up to the full distance.) We expect about one third single bikes and two-third tandems, but uni-cyclists are also welcome to join us.

Thank you for coming in 2017!

Women's Bike Ride and Wine Tasting at Rockland's Farm (Poolesville, MD)
Saturday, June 24, 2017

Potomac Pedalers and Washington Area Bicycle Association (WABA) are once again co-sponsoring this friendly ride for women to raise money for their Women and Bicycles (W&B) Program. What better way to do this than to combine a great ride in the country with a wine tasting afterwards? We’ll start and end at Rockland’s Farm Winery and Market, where they offer delicious farm produce, fruits and veggies, pasture-raised meat, and award winning wine for sale. There are two ride options (a longer and a shorter route) that will cater to different riding styles. An optional pizza lunch is available afterwards.

Your $20 registration helps support the W&B program.

Thank you for coming in 2017!

Howard County Farm and Art Tour Ride
Sunday, October 22, 2017

You won't want to miss this new ride! With routes will be between 27 to 100 miles through scenic Howard County, farm rest stop offering an opportunity to buy fresh produce, and optional stops at art galleries along the way, there's something for everyone on the Howard County Farm & Art Ride!. A Potomac Pedalers Sag driver will pick up all purchases and bring them to the ride start, so no worries about how to transport your farm-fresh produce. The event is pot luck but as a special bonus for riders who choose to ride the full 100 miles, we'll take your deli sandwich orders at the 75 mile rest stop and have them waiting for you at the finish.
