2019-05-23 18:30:00 2019-05-23 18:30:00 America/New_York Belle Haven Blast This long-running and sociable training ride has a bit of everything. A relatively flat first half gives way to nearly unrelenting hills in the second half.  The ride will focus on team building techniques with members riding together in pace lines. Riders will stop in case of mishaps or mechanicals. Ride leaders rotate in the pace line working to keep the team riding as a single unit and may establish or adjust speed limits for flat terrain. Rides will generally be broken into two groups, an A and a B/BB, depending on turnout. The A group will be limited to those who have demonstrated that they know the route and have the necessary fitness and group riding skills. The B/BB group will focus on developing fitness and group riding skills.   Both groups will ride together until the Fort Hunt Park entrance, then separate into two groups going into the park. If needed, each group will stop and regroup with its own members at the top of Rebecca Drive. We'll have a post-ride outing on the last Thursday of the month, so bring a change of clothes.  Belle Haven Picnic Area (BEL)

2019-05-25 08:30:00 2019-05-25 08:30:00 America/New_York Loudoun Looper   Welcome to some the smoothest rural pavement this side of the Blue Ridge. The long route, 61 miles, is the traditional loop to Waterford, Taylorstown, Lovettsville (No Lyle), Hillsboro, Round Hill, Airmont, Purceville and back to Leesburg. The short route, 47 miles, stays with the long route until mile 32, where it turns east onto the newly paved Alder School Road and on to to Purceville. First rest stop is at mile 18, the Lovettsville 7-11 (indoor toilets!). Short route riders have the do-it-your-self rest stop #2 option in Purceville of visiting any of the town's stores, restaurants or four breweries. Long route rest stop #2 is at the Philomont store (mile 41). Ride leader expects to lead from the back and do the long route. No rest room at the ride start, so plan accordingly. I'll have analog cue sheets available at the start. Got questions? Email or call, just don't wait until Saturday morning.     Loudoun County High School (LOU)
