About this event
A challenging ride in the Shenandoah Valley with endless rollers, some are steep, and one long climb, about 2 miles, with grades of 7-10% and some shorter steeper sections. (Good warm-up for Triple Peak Gran Fondo.) It’s a long drive out to Middletown but a beautiful area to ride - low traffic, rural roads in sometimes remote areas. Ride leader will suggest some regrouping but recommend bring a ride buddy if you think you may be off the front or back. (Please provide your name and phone either by registering or texting me before the ride in case you need assistance.) We’ll take a break at Gravel Springs Grocery, mile 31, the only store on the route. The store has limited options for food & drinks. We’ll make a water stop at Mt Carmel Church, mile 42.8. Please start the ride fully hydrated. No restrooms at ride start. There’s a gas station just off I-81 at the Middletown exit. Ride starts at: Laurel Ridge Community College, 173 Skirmisher Ln, Middletown, VA 22645. The college is on Valley Pike (rt 11) in Middletown. Park in the first parking lot on the south side of the college. Ride leader: Mike McCarley, 703.218.0707, msmccarley@cox.net. Contact me with questions before 8pm.
