About this event

This is the second of a series of training rides intended to help prepare people for the club's marquee fall event, the Harvest Hundred, taking place on 9/21. If you have thought about riding a century, but thought maybe you weren't ready, these rides are for you! New riders welcome -- you don't have to gone to the first training ride to participate. Riders new to the club and the area are always welcome.

Today, we ride from DC over to NoVA and out to Great Falls. As with other PPTC rides, we look forward to the joys of harmonious peloton, with occasional pace lines when roads and traffic allow. We are recreational riders and not racers, so we’re prioritizing safety.

As with other PPTC rides, cycling is made better by the opportunity for socializing before and after the ride itself. While not required, we encourage all to arrive early before the ride start to enjoy coffee and a pastry at Open City and stick around for the post-ride tailgate if you have time. Van Leeuwen's ice cream is a leading candidate, though there are plenty of options on 14th Street.

This is a no-drop ride. However, please download the route and refer to the Potomac Pedalers ride class table for pacing.

Route is 58 miles, leaves DC through Georgetown, goes through Arlington and McLean out to Great Falls. We return along the W&OD trail and the Custis trail.
