ABOUT ROLL WITH RITA RIDES: I've been leading a series of rides geared specifically toward fast-end CC riders who enjoy riding longer distances in a group but are tired of being dropped. We're not riding in a pace line. But participants tend to be committed to staying together (more or less), maybe even regrouping after long stretches, and ending with an average of about 13 mph. My motto is: "It's supposed to be fun."

That being said, we will not wait repeatedly for riders out of sync with the group.

THESE RIDES ADDRESS A VERY SPECIFIC RIDER NICHE. I'm trying to resuscitate the once-vibrant CC class that has become extinct in recent years. If you like to ride faster or slower than the promised pace, this may not be the ride for you.

ABOUT TODAY'S ROUTE: This is one of my very favorite rides. It's MODERATELY HILLY. Horses. Farms. The Beach. What's not to like? We'll go to the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay and take a nice break at Mile 26 at the Chesapeake Deli. We'll stop again briefly in North Beach.

For today, only, we will be joining the Oxon Hill Bike Club. A faster group will be doing the same route and a slower group will be doing a 40-miler. See the other ride options here:

PARKING: No water or restroom at ride start. Try the gas station as soon as you get off Rt. 4. The commuter lot is on Southern Maryland Blvd. on the right, about 1/10th of a mile past Duncan's Donuts. DON'T MISTAKENLY
