This is a reprise of the "Winter Rides", which we hardly did at all this past season due to the weather. There are many distance options from which to choose: 32, 40, 45, 48, 50 (two), 61 miles. They are all together in a RWGPS collection in the link. You can decide what you‘d like to do as there are only a few Y/N decision points. There will not be formal leaders for all the distances but we will do an overview at the ride start.
Ride away from the Workhouse Arts Center to explore the suburban neighborhood streets of Lorton up to West Springfield and back. Brief rest stop at Burke Lake Park, mile 10 and another at Starbucks, mile 17. Near the end of the ride there is a 50 yard, unpaved, hard-packed path to ride on. Steps away from the ride start Bunnyman Brewing Cafe opens at 9am for breakfast, and lunch afterwards. Stay and visit the Lucy Burns Museum (history of the women’s suffragette movement) and artist galleries. SEE CUE SHEET LINK AT END OF DESCRIPTION, OR RIDE WITH GPS AT TOP OF PAGE UNDER "WHERE". Park near Building W-11 or W-10 located on the northwest side of the complex. That’s the area at the intersection of Rt 123/Ox Rd and Workhouse Rd. See map: https://www.workhousearts.org/campus-map 9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, VA 22079
Non-members welcome. Contact ride leader prior to ride.

Glen Echo Park lower parking lot off of Oxford St
The Usual Monday Ride from Glen Echo. For Covid vaccinated riders, a weekly ride primarily through the rolling neighborhoods of Bethesda and Potomac. Usually, the exact route is at the whim of the ride leaders, so there are no cues and the distance varies. The group stops to regroup at all decision points and at the tops of any significant climbs. When there is interest and on Federal Holidays, a longer option is usually available. Coffee shop and socializing near end of the ride. On holidays a RidewithGPS file of a 35ish and 60ish mile route will be posted here. Ride Leaders: Jay Range - jayrange@aol.com and David Stinchcomb - dstinchcomb11@gmail.com
Social ride from Raymond Rec Center in Sixteenth Street Heights DC to Maryland via Rock Creek Park. Then back downtown via the Metropolitan Branch Trail. From MGP ride climbs over Bull Run Mtn, a 3.5 mi climb with a steep descent, then rolling unpaved roads to a rest stop in The Plains. Expect primarily well-maintained dirt roads with some small gravel, potholes, washboard, and occasional loose gravel. Recommend gravel or cyclocross tires for comfort and safety. This is intended to be a casual ride with periodic regrouping. I expect to average about 12-13 mph. You’re welcome to ride your preferred pace. Start is Mickie Gordon Park, 23225 Carters Farm Ln, Middleburg. There are porta-loos in the park. Mike McCarley, 703.218.0707, mccarleym218@gmail.com. Contact me with questions before the ride.

Glen Echo Park - lower parking lot, turn off MacArthur Blvd onto Oxford Street
Each week will have a uniquely assigned Ride with GPS route link posted at least two days before the ride. All riders are expected to download the Ride with GPS route onto their devices or have printed out a cue sheet in case they decide to separate from the group for whatever reason. The group is expected to ride together at the group leader’s C pace, which will be 11 to 12 mph on average. Rides typically are 25 to 30 miles and ascent will be between 1,000’ and 2,200’, depending on the route. All routes are in low-traffic, moderately hilly residential areas. Those wishing to ride at an average pace of greater than 12 mph usually will have the opportunity to form a CC-level ride group at the start and depart a few minutes early with a ride leader from among their ranks. Each ride will have a rest/restroom stop midway and an optional lunch stop near the end. This is a recurring ride. ALL RIDERS MUST REGISTER EACH WEEK. For new riders, emergency-contact information is collected at the ride start.
This social ride is one of the Thursday evening Tenleytown DC meet-ups and is a 12 mile loop through Tenleytown and Chevy Chase. The route for this evening is relatively flat with a couple of pesky hills out and back coming to almost 900 feet total of climbing, mostly on quiet residential streets and car-less Rock Creek Park.
Meet by 6:15p at the south parking lot of the now-closed Tenleytown ElectriCityBikes store on Wisconsin Ave., NW.

Former Bike Rack DC Beginner ride, it has survived the closing of BRDC, and the pandemic, and morphed into a ride that offers something for everyone **See Ride Requirements below**. A/B groups usually form after the first attack following a social start. Regroup at the turnaround and again at the finish.
If you’re feeling racy you can race. If you don’t have legs you can likely fall in with another group and meet up at the turnaround point (Viers Mill Park). Expect pace lines and attacks up front, more casual riding off the back and very little vehicular traffic throughout.
NOTE: There is an optional, hillier finish to the last couple miles that usually arrives at the start/finish regroup around the same time as the flatter finish group. If you‘re with the group and feel like a little climbing to end your ride, just follow. If not, keep to the posted route and everyone will finish at the same place.
While it can get spicy, this is ultimately a social ride and all are welcome to enjoy post-ride refreshments and revelry at Don Juan‘s in Mount Pleasant, just a short climb past the finish.
