What is this?
CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST
This is a very nice, "flat-ish" ride (1500 feet of climbing) that starts in Berryville, Va. -- about a 75-minute drive from the confluence of I-66 and the Dulles Access Road. Last week we visited a hilly portion of the Shenandoah Valley. For this ride, we'll be exploring the uniquely beautiful, flatter, north end of the valley. We think that blossoms will be at or near peak. The ride is also posted with the Oxon Hill Bike Club.
This ride is the latest in our ongoing series of rides to get CC riders to (re)discover the world-class riding in places that are closer than you think.
Ride leaders: Rita Zeidner and Harold Datz (For this ride, we'll just use a single email address and phone number: rzeidner@gmail.com 703.402.5118)
Ride leaders will average 11-13 mph on this relatively flat terrain. You are welcome (and encouraged!) to go at your own pace. But if you ride much faster or slower than the ride leaders, you may be going the distance on your own. (This is not a no-drop ride.) There probably will just be one official rest stop, and it will be at a park or church. (There aren't a lot of choices for stops out this way and no stores.)
Please note that this route has no stores or restrooms after Mile 7ish, so plan accordingly. (There may be portable sanitation along the way, but no promises.)
Meet at the flagpole at the front of the high school. To get there, you have to take Mosby Blvd. off the traffic circle. You will be in back of the school. (This is a newish high school that is kitty-corner to the school where the PPTC Century USED TO start.
