Saturdays with Rita: The most recent in a series of longer, more challenging rides for nonracers.
IF YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THIS RIDE, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS IN CASE I NEED TO MAKE A LAST MINUTE CHANGE. ( rzeidner@ gmail.com)
This is a classic hilly ride. Given the challenging terrain, I recommend you join only if you have at least 200 miles in the saddle in the last month.
Ride leader (me!) will average 12-13 mph. That means sometimes faster and sometimes slower during the duration of the ride.
This is NOT a no-drop ride.
This route does include several Rt. 15 crossings, but I think only one entails the less than optimal above ground "dash".
Opportunities to buy supplies are limited, so come with plenty of water and snacks. I don‘t think there‘s a store until Mile 33 (Thurmont.) We‘ll stop briefly before that when folks need a break.
Here‘s the weather forecast - which is stellar: https://go.randoplan.com/Bwm21g
This ride will only go if at least one other rider besides your intrepid leader signs up by 8 p.m. Friday night. (One person on the sign-up has already cancelled.)
ONCE YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE ALSO SEND TO ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND CELL PHONE NUMBER, in case I need to make a last minute change or need to cancel. (rzeidner@gmail.com) Also please send me your emergency contact info.
Be sure YOU HAVE FULLY COMPLETED PPTC‘S RIDE REGISTRATION process. If you don‘t receive an automated message from Club Support immediately, you‘re not registered; you probably didn‘t check all the boxes -- even after you signed the waiver. That means I won‘t know you‘re planning to participate, and I won‘t have a way of telling you about last-minute changes.

This moderately hilly ride follows roads in the Ag Reserve going to Wasche and West Hunter before returning via Beallesville Road. There is an optional rest stop at K2, 8 miles from the end of the ride.
Please park at the first parking lot on the left on Riley‘s Lock Road.
Please download your own cue sheet: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52549859
This is a no drop ride.

If you‘re not watching The Masters or prepping for Paris-Roubaix , join me on this ride - The traditional loop journey from Leesburg to Waterford, Taylorstown, Lovettsville, Hillsboro, and Purceville. Rest stop at Lovettsville (mile 19) and optional water/potty break in Purceville. There‘s a portalet at the ride start. Free parking on Harrison St. At the ride start, I‘ll be standing near my Red Mazda 3 hatchback. I expect to average about 14 mph. Got questions? Call or text me, but please don‘t wait until Saturday morning.

Former Bike Rack DC Beginner ride, it has survived the closing of BRDC, and the pandemic, and morphed into a ride that offers something for everyone **See Ride Requirements below**. A/B groups usually form after the first attack following a social start. Regroup at the turnaround and again at the finish.
If you’re feeling racy you can race. If you don’t have legs you can likely fall in with another group and meet up at the turnaround point (Viers Mill Park). Expect pace lines and attacks up front, more casual riding off the back and very little vehicular traffic throughout.
While it can get spicy, this is ultimately a social ride and all are welcome to enjoy post-ride refreshments and revelry at Don Juan‘s in Mount Pleasant, just a short climb past the finish.

Glen Echo Park, lower parking lot off of Oxford St
Mon, Apr 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM
The Usual Monday Ride from Glen Echo runs every Monday through the rolling streets and neighborhoods of Bethesda, Potomac and Travilah. The exact route is at the whim of the ride leaders, so there are no cues sheets and the distance varies. Generally, there is no rest stop on the ride. However, we do stop to regroup at decision points and at the tops of significant climbs. Just before the end of the ride, a group of riders often stop at a coffee shop for socializing. On Federal Holidays, a longer ride option is usually available, and a RidewithGPS file of a 35ish and 60ish mile route will be posted here. Rolling ride on mostly gravel roads. Recommend gravel or cyclocross tires for comfort and safety. Rest stop @ Upperville Citgo. This is intended to be a social/casual ride. I expect to average about 12.5-13.0 mph. You’re welcome to ride your preferred pace. Not sure if porta-loo has been returned to the park. Use your best judgment. Mike McCarley, 703.218.0707, mccarleym218@gmail.com. Contact me with questions before the ride.

Glen Echo - lower parking lot, turn off Macarthur onto Oxford Street
Thu, Apr 16, 2026 at 10:00 AM
Each week will have a uniquely assigned Ride with GPS route link posted at least two days before the ride. All riders are expected to download the Ride with GPS route onto their devices or have printed out a cue sheet in case they decide to separate from the group for whatever reason. The group is expected to ride together at the group leader’s C pace, which will be 11 to 12 mph on average. Rides typically are 25 to 30 miles and ascent will be between 1,000’ and 2,200’, depending on the route. All routes are in low-traffic, moderately hilly residential areas. Two out of three weeks the ride finds its way to Potomac village. Each ride will have a rest/restroom stop midway and an optional lunch stop near the end. This is a recurring ride. ALL RIDERS MUST REGISTER EACH WEEK. For new riders, emergency-contact information is collected at the ride start.
Glen Echo Park - western parking lot

Alternative Glen Echo Loops ride for B/BB riders. We will leave a bit before the C riders and will take a slightly different route. Expected pace between 14 and 16 mph. This week‘s route is very similar to the C-group route with some extra miles after the rest stop.

This social ride is one of the Thursday evening Tenleytown DC meet-ups and is a 14 mile loop through Tenleytown and Bethesda. The route for this evening is relatively flat with a couple of pesky hills out and back coming to almost 1,000 feet total of climbing, mostly on quiet residential streets and bicycle paths. It is a “no-drop” ride, with periodic stops to regroup as needed so that noone is left behind.
Meet by 6:15p at the south parking lot of the now-closed Tenleytown ElectriCityBikes store on Wisconsin Ave., NW.
GPS file route - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29532204
Those so desiring afterwards can go several blocks from the ride finish to Pete’s Pizza and eat at the outside tables there.
If you sign up, and later decide not to ride, please cancel online by 5 pm the day of the ride.
Ride cancellation in the event of rain and wet roads will be posted here no later than 5p the day of the ride.

IF YOU DECIDE TO JOIN THIS RIDE, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR CELL PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS IN CASE I NEED TO MAKE A LAST MINUTE CHANGE. ( rzeidner@ gmail.com). Also, let me know how you would feel about starting at 8:30 a.m.
This week we‘ll focus on to Gettysbury Battlefield (no park pass needed but very limited services in the park). At ride start, park in first lot on the right inside the park, NOT on the street by the playground. Opportunities to buy snacks or use indoor plumbing are limited, so plan accordingly and bring plenty of water. (Route includes a loop to the visitor center, where there may be water and a restroom.) Ride leader does not plan to spend time viewing the sites at the visitor center. If you wish to stay, you may be on your own.
This ride will go only if at least one other rider beside your intrepid leader signs up by 8 pm Friday night. I MAY CHANGE START TIME TO 8:30 IF TEMPS PREDICTED TO CLIMB.
ONCE YOU SIGN UP PLEASE ALSO SEND ME YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS AND CELL PHONE NUMBER in case I need to make a last minute change or cancel. I‘m at rzeidner@gmail.com. Also please send me your emergency contact information.

Weekend rides in Lewes, DE for up to 75 attendees
Sat, Apr 25, 2026 at 9:30 AM
This ride is a long time club favorite and passes through three covered bridges in Frederick County, MD. The terrain is rolling and nearly perfect for tandems, with approximately 1600 ft of elevation change over 41.6 miles. There are several parks along the route where we can regroup and / or take rest breaks. The longer route will also pass through Emmitsburg, where drinks and snacks are available, and Mt St. Mary‘s University. We will use the tunnel under US 15 at Mt. St. Mary‘s to avoid crossing the highway. We also pass near Thurmont, where food and drinks are also available.
The ride start location is Utica Park, which has restrooms.

Spring time return for this monthly DC-based ride. In May, we head into Northern VA through the leafy green streets of Mantua, Oakton, Difficult Run and turn around before Dulles Airport. While we look forward to the joys of spinning harmoniously and consciously in pace lines, we are recreational riders and not racers, so we’re prioritizing socializing before and after the ride itself.
This is a no-drop ride. However, please download the route and refer to the Potomac Pedalers ride class table for pacing.
There are two routes:
57 miles: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54551641
44 miles: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/54579050
Start is at Grace Street Coffee in Georgetown (just under the Whitehurst Freeway). End point is Mr Smith‘s just down the block.
