Glen Echo Park - lower parking lot, turn off MacArthur Blvd onto Oxford Street
Each week will have a uniquely assigned Ride with GPS route link posted at least two days before the ride. All riders are expected to download the Ride with GPS route onto their devices or have printed out a cue sheet in case they decide to separate from the group for whatever reason. The group is expected to ride together at the group leader’s C pace, which will be 11 to 12 mph on average. Rides typically are 25 to 30 miles and ascent will be between 1,000’ and 2,200’, depending on the route. All routes are in low-traffic, moderately hilly residential areas. Those wishing to ride at an average pace of greater than 12 mph usually will have the opportunity to form a CC-level ride group at the start and depart a few minutes early with a ride leader from among their ranks. Each ride will have a rest/restroom stop midway and an optional lunch stop near the end. This is a recurring ride. ALL RIDERS MUST REGISTER EACH WEEK. For new riders, emergency-contact information is collected at the ride start.
Starting off April with this long-running ride, almost always held Thursdays, sometimes an official PPTC ride, sometimes not. All categories and abilities welcome. 12 (mostly) flat miles followed by 10 not-so-flat miles, with options to cut out some of the hills (like not going up and back on Mason Hill Dr). The first few rides flirt with twilight, so lights are recommended.

Former Bike Rack DC Beginner ride, it has survived the closing of BRDC, and the pandemic, and morphed into a ride that offers something for everyone **See Ride Requirements below**. A/B groups usually form after the first attack following a social start. Regroup at the turnaround and again at the finish.
If you’re feeling racy you can race. If you don’t have legs you can likely fall in with another group and meet up at the turnaround point (Viers Mill Park). Expect pace lines and attacks up front, more casual riding off the back and very little vehicular traffic throughout.
NOTE: There is an optional, hillier finish to the last couple miles that usually arrives at the start/finish regroup around the same time as the flatter finish group. If you‘re with the group and feel like a little climbing to end your ride, just follow. If not, keep to the posted route and everyone will finish at the same place.
While it can get spicy, this is ultimately a social ride and all are welcome to enjoy post-ride refreshments and revelry at Don Juan‘s in Mount Pleasant, just a short climb past the finish.

This awesome ride is back in action in 2025. It’s still a ride from DC out to the parks and to the leafy green streets of the surrounding areas - no car needed - with some new added perks, since cycling is only as enjoyable as the coffee and tailgating.
As always, the route features lots of rolling hills and a few lung-inhaling climbs. While we look forward to the joys of spinning harmoniously and consciously in pace lines, we are recreational riders and not racers, so we’re prioritizing socializing before and after the ride itself.
We encourage all to arrive early before the ride start to enjoy coffee and a pastry at Zeke‘s and stick around for the post-ride tailgate at City-State.
This is a no-drop ride. However, please download the route and refer to the Potomac Pedalers ride class table for pacing.

On holidays a RidewithGPS file of a 35ish and 60ish mile route will be posted here. Ride Leaders: Warren Farb (wfarb@mac.com) and Janice Stoodley (janice.stoodley1@gmail.com)

Broad Branch Road & Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park
https://maps.app.goo.gl/XhyJULjxYrmLg9sE9

Start at Olney Manor Recreational Park, near restroom building and dog park. The route is partly through Howard County, scenic territory. There’s a major hill at mile 6, and a long gradual climb miles 21-22. Rest stop at 16 miles, Glenelg. We usually have some B-level riders, but for CC level won’t drop anyone who can maintain 13 mph.
Please print a cue sheet if you need one.

Glen Echo Park lower parking lot off of Oxford St
The Usual Monday Ride from Glen Echo. For Covid vaccinated riders, a weekly ride primarily through the rolling neighborhoods of Bethesda and Potomac. Usually, the exact route is at the whim of the ride leaders, so there are no cues and the distance varies. The group stops to regroup at all decision points and at the tops of any significant climbs. When there is interest and on Federal Holidays, a longer option is usually available. Coffee shop and socializing near end of the ride. On holidays a RidewithGPS file of a 35ish and 60ish mile route will be posted here. Ride Leaders: Jay Range - jayrange@aol.com and David Stinchcomb - dstinchcomb11@gmail.com

A rolling ride on mostly unpaved roads. Expect primarily well-maintained dirt roads with some small gravel, potholes, washboard, and occasional loose gravel. This is intended to be a casual ride with periodic regrouping. I expect to average about 12.5-13.5 mph. You’re welcome to ride your preferred pace. Start at Point of Rocks parking near the boat ramp (see map). Rest rooms are available at start. Begin with a climb over Furnace Mtn and finish with 7 flat miles on the C&O. We’ll pass through Lovettsville twice. The plan is a coffee stop at Back Street Brews, mile 23.6. Lovettsville 7-11 is an option. Mike McCarley, 703.218.0707, mccarleym218@gmail.com.
